Constructing a handy wall storage unit for your canned goods

Friday, November 20, 2015 by

(Bugout.news) Let’s face it: Prepping not only takes a lot of time and effort, it also takes a great deal of space to store all of your food and gear. So anything that can help you leverage the available space you have is a good thing.

With that in mind, canned goods are items that many preppers collect and store in bulk. Wouldn’t it be great if you could find a way to leverage your available storage space to include even more canned goods? Wall-mounted storage units work well for this purpose.

There are a few basic designs that work the best, such as slotted storage bins that can be mounted on walls or slid into tight spaces:

You can also purchase metal wire-fabricated storage units like the one below, either online or from local home improvement centers; the model featured below is being used as a spice rack but it can also store canned goods:

Several of these units attached to the insides of closets, in your garage or storage shed will greatly expand your canned good inventory.

Also, you can use empty soda pop cartons, as seen below, to store extra canned goods, making even better use of your storage square footage. Fill and stack as needed:

Using any or all of these unique storage ideas for your canned goods could reasonably expand your supply two- or even three-fold, thereby dramatically improving your food security.
